Layering Snares – A Brilliant Tutorial By The DSP Project

Indeed, there are millions of great drum samples available online, many of which are even free to download and use.

But, in my experience at least, having too many resources readily available can easily have a negative impact on one’s productivity. Browsing trough piles and piles of kicks and snares to find just the kind of sound you need isn’t much fun.

Besides that, creating your own drum samples is a great way of adding a personal signature to your tracks, making them stand out when compared to others.

The video above is without a doubt one of the best I’ve seen on this topic. It uses layering snares as  an example, but the same principles can be applied to all other kinds of sounds, from kicks and claps, to synths and fx. Many thanks to the guys from DSP Projects for making such a nice tutorial. Enjoy the vid!
