So I’ve discovered this huge free drum machine sample pack a while ago and was unsure of whether I should post about it on BPB or not, but here you go I guess.

question: are these legit? they seem like the same samples that this website sells:

seems like someone is not doing the right thing, but not sure who. thanks; love your blog BTW.
i’m not sure about the legality here either. the guy who created the 1GB pack says that the included samples were collected from various other free packs, and the reason why he is offering them in a single free download is the fact that he noticed people around the web actually taking money for some of the samples in the pack, even though they were originally free.
there’s also a disclaimer in the original thread that he will remove any set of samples which is reported as ilegal.
i don’t know, i respect the effort and the readiness to edit the pack if need be. so if i had to go with drum samples of fishy legality, i’d go with these. ^^

To clarify the above questions.
kb6.de is a FREE resource of USER submitted kits. The person running the site did not make those kits, they were collected and/or sent to him. He is charging for bandwidth to keep the site up not the kits per say.
Snip snip from the sites FAQ:
“Q: Do you sell the samples ?
A: No, these samples can not be sold, they are royalty free / Public Domain.
All samples are made by some private people and offered for free.
The Donation for the larger Sets is only to cover the cost of Bandwith.”

Are all these samples in 16 bit or 24 bit format??
not sure man, it’s a compilation of various sample packs found online. my guess is that there are plenty of different formats inside.
