Vladimir Titov has released v2.1.1 of Marcuriall Cab, a free Marshall cabinet simulation in VST plugin format for Windows and Mac.
This cab sim has been discussed quite a lot on Guitar Amp Modeling forums, check that thread out for some useful info.
In Mercuriall Cab v2.1 I finally eliminate some of the shortcomings of version 2.0 and modify the engine plugin. The correctness of simulation requires sacrifice, so the load on the processor slightly increased.
Note that you will need a SSE3 processor for the plugin to work. Also, note that the unit may distort when input levels are high, so make sure you properly set the volume of your amp sim.

onCould I use this on other instruments besides a guitar? Maybe on drums or something. Is that possible?

onsure, there’s no reason not to try, it’s just a regular vst plugin after all. i think it could work well at giving a certain lo-fi character to sounds. guitar cabs often emphasize the mids and take out some of the lows and highs.
