What are they talking about? By what definition is the EMU E5000 an “analogue” Sampler?! Like all EMU samplers it’s digital through and through. It has ADCs and DACs and stores the samples in a digital format. Even the filters aren’t analogue, they’re actually much cooler than that: Z-Plane Morphing filters! I’m fairly sure you can’t morph the Z-Plane in an analogue filter, it has to be done by DSP.
I should point out that whilst rare, there ARE actual analogue samplers around, the Mellotron for example. Heck even an analogue tape recorder is technically an analogue sampler, the EMU E5000 however is most definitely not!
that puzzled me too, but i think what they meant to say was actually “hardware” rather than “analogue”.
That makes sense, I thought it was an odd thing to say about a product that is so obviously digital!
