Whitebox Synth Makers has released 8-Box, a freeware ambient soundscape synthesizer created with Max for Live.
An ambient synth with 8 pad tones plus Reverb, Attack, Release, Cutoff and Spectral Delay. A surprisingly deep variation of sounds available with a few controls.
8-Box is available for free download via Whitebox Synth Makers (489kB download size, AMXD file format). Please note that Ableton Live and Max for Live are required in order to use this instrument.
The synthesizer is designed for quick and easy creation of ambient sounds and drones, with only a few controls. There are six available controls in total.
Whitebox Synth Makers has also released Emptyfield and Dialsynth, two more freeware synthesizers made with Max for Live. You’ll find these instruments on the official website.

onI love your page. I love the offers you create and the lists you put forth concering most excellent freeware. I have to say though, your logic is fallacious. It’s more like saying “this car is great(free), but I have to pay for the power windows and leather upholstery. I would love to have this argument over beer while listening to favorite tracks. Hope I did not horribly offend.

onHaving considered the facts at hand, your argument is good. But what good is a car tire without a car upon to place it? Even more reason to consider the issue over beers and excellent music!
