256 Free Nintendo Style 8-bit SFX Samples Released By Contralogic

Contralogic has released NES Samples, a collection of 256 free audio samples inspired by the sounds of the Nintendo Entertainment System gaming console.

A collection of 256 short percussive samples produced by an emulation of the 2A03 soundchip used in the NES console in 48kHz 16-bit WAV format.

NES Samples is available for free download via Contralogic (3.4MB download size, contains 256 audio samples in 16-bit WAV format).

The samples were generated by Famitracker’s emulation of the Ricoh 2A03 microprocessor soundchip (used in the Nintendo Entertainment System video game console) and were originally created for a video game called Chompston.

This is one of the better free 8-bit SFX sample packs I’ve heard. Some classic video game sounds in there, definitely worth the download if you’re short on chiptune material.
