Beat Magazine has announced that AM|Track SE and Vandal SE by Magix are now free downloads at their Beatdrive website.

AM|Track SE is a combination of an analogue compressor and a tape simulator in one single device. Vandal is the only guitar and bass amplifier that combines the characteristic sound and feel of a real hardware setup with the advantages of a software application!

AM|Track SE and Vandal SE are available for free download via Beatdrive. To get your free copies, you’ll need to register at Beatdrive (registration is completely free) and log in to your user account.

These two effects are cut-down versions of AM|Track and Vandal by Magix. I’m not sure about the limitations of SE versions, please let me know in the comments section if you have any info about this!

When you create a Beatdrive account, you’ll also gain free access to Aalto Solo, Artillery II BE and a collection of 98 other VST instruments and effects.

A special thank you goes out to BPB readers Irion Da Ronin and Brett Harris for sending me info about this freebie offer. Thanks so much guys!

  1. i remember the am-track se from my windows days, was pretty basic and not a very “fast” compressor, but when it worked – boy did it work.

too bad it’s windows only, says so on beatdrive. when downloading the mac installer, one only gets vandal but no am-track to be found anywhere. “if only”.

gave that vandal a quick shot because it loads as a 64-bit AU, and i find that for a sim it’s pretty decent sounding. still a little hissy and flat as usual, but it has a definite “chug” and that wobbly bendy rubbery vibe of a real tube amp going on. not hyping it and saying “it DOES sound like one”, just saying “it sounds MORE like one than others”.

didn’t like the cabs though, so i’ll have to see later today whether i can use it without the cabs or not. this thing driving the kuassa creme cabs would probably be a beast… so for now that one’s a keeper, even though i have creme, amplitube and a real 5150.

all in all, thanks for the news BPB and thanks for the plugins magix. :)
