Ignite Amps has released TPA-1, a virtual guitar tube power amplifier in VST/AU plugin format for Windows and Mac.

The TPA-1 is a digital emulation of a class AB tube power amplifier for guitar. It has been designed and developed to be paired with any guitar preamp (VST/AU or even hardware).

TPA-1 is available for free download via Ignite Amps (3.7MB download size, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU plugin format for Windows & Mac).

The effect is designed to be chained with a hardware or software guitar preamp. It doesn’t model any particular hardware product, but it takes all analog components of a physical amplifier in account, making a versatile digital emulation.

Ignite Amps are my favorite developers of virtual guitar amp software, along with LePou. I’m sure that this will be a great addition to my VST effect collection, as much as their previous releases.

  1. Is this supposed to be used instead of a stompbox or between the stompbox and amp sim? I’m asking because Ignite Amps are also my favourite developers and I try to use all their stuff into my recordings :P

  2. Tomislaaaaaaaaaaav, the idiot spammer is back!

Since the only reason for his spamming (besides his small and deformed genitals and his psychological problems) seems to be to link to websites, I’m wondering if it’s possible to remove the ability to enter a website. Or is this not possible with the comment system you’re using here?

IMO linking to commenters websites is not essential here.
Much more important are the comments itself.

you’ve got a great point there, worth thinking about.

however, i’m not sure if i’d like to remove the website link option for all BPB readers. i mean, i’m glad when people leave links to their SoundCloud accounts and such.

a tough choice, although i will consider it. thanks for the suggetion!

  3. It’s supposed to be used where power amp belongs in the signal chain – after preamp/stompbox (no matter if these are emulations or real ones) and before cabinet (emulation).

Regarding free plugins there are several preamp emulations you can use – Ignite NRR-1, The Anvil, SHB-1 and LePou LE456. Windows users have also TSE X30 and preamp versions of SoloC and Hybrit.

  4. You can use any pedal too, as preamp.
After all, some of them are near full preamps.

I really want to try it ;)
Nothing beat Nebula OwnHammer programs in my book…but may be it is going to change :D
