AfroDJMac has released ADM Scratcher, a freebie (email address required) vinyl scratch effect rack for Ableton Live.
Record scratching is a trademark in many genres of electronic music. But the idea of lugging around another piece of gear just doesn’t seem worth it to me (and a record player would be a rather larger addition).
ADM Scratcher is available for free download via AfroDJMac’s website (0.8 MB download size, contains 1 effect in AMXD format for Ableton Live).
The rack is based on a time delay effect. The scratching effect is easily achieved by tweaking the delay time parameter in real time. It’s not a very precise scratch sound emulation (it’s a bit hard to control the actual sound on the output) but it can definitely achieve some interesting results.
