Rhythmic Robot has released Doctor 33, a free Native Instruments Kontakt sample library based on the BOSS DB-33 Dr. Beat analogue metronome.

Doctor 33 isn’t a drum machine – it’s a metronome. Still, it creates a variety of little analogue clicks, blips and ticks which have a fun percussive style of their own.

Doctor 33 is available for free download via Rhythmic Robot (17.0 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 1 instrument in NKI format for Native Instruments Kontakt 4 or higher).

To get your free copy of Doctor 33, visit the download page linked above and send an email to the address provided on the page. Don’t forget to type free stuff in the subject line! You will then receive an email containing a download link for all Rhythmic Robot freebies.

Rhythmic Robot are great guys and they have crafted a fantastic custom NI Kontakt interface for the Commodore 64 Synthesizer Sessions DELUXE sample collection which is available for free download on BPB and is the sample pack I’m most proud of. You can also download it from their website, along with Doctor 33 and Jacky.

While the original BOSS DB-33 is basically just an analogue metronome, the guys at Rhythmic Robot have expanded it’s functionality turning it into a quirky little drum machine for Kontakt. They’ve sampled all the blips and blops of the original instrument, adding a Tone control and making it tempo-sync to your DAW. It can be used to easily add an analogue flavor on top of your electronic beats and percussion tracks.

Please note that you will need the full version of NI Kontakt 4 or higher in order to use this instrument without any limitations. It will only work for 15 minutes in Kontakt Player, after which you’ll need to reload the project to continue playing.
