Bronto Scorpio Sound has released Dronebox, a freeware drone generator instrument built with Native Instruments Reaktor.

I promised to share some Reaktor stuff for quite some time now, and as today is my birthday, I thought it would be a good time to do so. The main inspiration for this ensemble were those awesome demos of modular synths you often find on the internet.

Dronebox is available for free download via Bronto Scorpio Sound (24.6 kB download size, ZIP archive, contains 1 instrument in ENS format for NI Reaktor).

The instrument is free to download and use. If you like the instrument, you can use the Donate button located on the page linked above to send some money to the developer.

Dronebox is an unusual instrument, designed for quick and easy creation of drone sounds. The fact that it’s simple and easy to use doesn’t mean that it’s boring or dull. On the contrary, Dronebox sounds very good and it can synthesize some unusually complex sounds.

The developer suggests to keep the Chaos control at the lowest setting while tweaking the other parameters. Once you’re happy with the overall sounds, increase the Chaos slider to add some interesting effects to your patch.

You’ll need the full version of Native Instruments Reaktor in order to use Dronebox without any limitations. It will work for 20 minutes in Reaktor Player. If you don’t own the full version of Reaktor, you can always use the free version to render some drone sounds before the demo expires and bring them back into your project as WAV files.
