AfroDJMac has released CasiOP-1 Ice Caves, a free instrument rack for Ableton Live featuring a mix of synthesized sounds and field recordings.

You can cycle between 6 different Casio instruments and six different Ice Cave instruments.  Mix and match them to sculpt the perfect sound.  Together they really create something special!

CasiOP-1 Ice Caves is available for free download via AfroDJMac (36.5 MB download size, ALP file format for Ableton Live).

Please note that a working email address is required in order to download the freebie rack. The direct download link will be instantly delivered to your email Inbox.

AfroDJMac has built this free instrument pack in collaboration with Subaqueous, who is also a certified Ableton Live trainer. The instrument is based on a set of Casio SK-1 samples which have been re-sampled using Teenage Engineering’s OP-1 hybrid sampler. These sounds are combined with some pretty cool ice cave recordings, providing a great mixture of organic and digital sounds. You can hear the instrument in action in the demo video embedded below.

If you like the idea behind this instrument, check out the rest of the Free Ableton Live Racks section on AfroDJMac’s website. It features almost one hundred devices for Ableton Live, ranging from unusual quirky instruments to practical effects and tools.

Speaking of free Ableton Live goodies, you should also take a look at the Forest Fall Micro Drum Rack by Subaqueous. It is a cool free percussion instrument featuring a set of organic drum samples made with field recordings of water, fire, etc. The instrument can be used for building drum patterns and allows switching the loaded samples on the go using a single knob.
