DCSI has released V-Koder, the second release in their series of free sample based virtual instruments in NI Kontakt and VSTi plugin formats.

V-Koder is a free sample based synth instrument, originally recorded, designed and edited by DCSI, bringing you 3 vocoded, nonsense, short voices. The VST is available both at 32-bit or 64-bit for your needs. The soundsets included in this VST are spread in 3 octaves.

V-Koder is available for free download via DCSI (23.95 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit & 64-bit VSTi plugin format for Windows, NKI format for Native Instruments Kontakt).

The instrument is based on vocoder samples, which have been looped and spread over three octaves. Three presets are included, sharing a similar sound but a different vocoder phrase. Considering that this is just a simple sample based instrument, the sound is rather interesting and might work great in pop and electronic music!

V-Koder is available both as a VSTi plugin for Windows and an instrument library for Kontakt by Native Instruments. It’s great to see such format versatility in a freeware virtual instrument, kudos to the developer. This is the second freeware instrument released by Diego Callegari. If you like V-Koder, you should also take a look at the Combat Loop Drum Machine instrument which was released last week.
