There are hundreds of free drum sample packs out there and I don’t always manage to feature all of them on BPB. Here’s one hip hop drum sample pack which stands out from the crowd, though. The sound design team at Blackout Drums obviously enjoys layering different sounds on top of each other, resulting in some pretty nice and punchy samples.

My favorite part of this free sample pack are the percussion samples. You’ll find some pretty cool percussion one shots in there, obviously layered but these guys manage to pull it off with style.

What I didn’t like is the fact that most snare and kick samples come with rather obvious reverb tails. It would have been better if the samples were dry to begin with, so that the user could add their own reverb on top.

All in all, this is a nice little freebie pack for hip hop producers. It contains 30 drum samples in total (spread over 3 individual kits) and most of them are pretty usable. Scroll down the page for the link and download instructions.
