Automatl has announced the release of an early version of EasySSP, a freeware analyzer utility in VST plugin format for Windows which currently offers spectrum meter and goniometer functionality.

Easy Sound Space Perception is a small and lightweight audio visualization tool, which currently provides spectrometer and goniometer views.

According to the developers, one of the main advantages of this plugin is that it can show information from several different stereo pairs in a single window. This functionality can be seen in the official screenshots (pictured above). Differently colored lines show the frequency values of two different stereo pairs. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get this sort of behavior from EasySSP during my test run.

If I understand correctly, when multiple instances of the plugin are loaded on different mixer channels, the plugin should show the information gathered from those channels in a single window. This would really help with visualizing the problem areas in a busy mix and come in useful when doing EQ work in a non-ideal listening environment. In my case, each instance of the plugin worked independently, only showing the values from a single channel. Please leave a comment below if you figure out how to set up EasySSP properly, to get this sort of functionality from it!

Everything else worked just fine, though. This seems to be a very early version of the plugin and more features and improvements will be included in future updates. What I liked so far is the minimalistic workflow and the fact that the plugin features a really nice looking interface. It’s fairly easy to tweak the visual tools to your liking using the on-screen sliders. If it was possible to analyze the output of several channels at the same time, this plugin would be a blast.

Download

EasySSP is available for free download via Automatl (2.89 MB download size, DLL file, 32-bit & 64-bit VST plugin format for Windows).

  1. Nice concept! Wouldn’t it be the most comfortable solution, if one could just put the plugin on any channel you want to visualize and it will each instance would then show all rhese channels?

Because many hosts make it difficult or even impossible to manually route a channel to a plugin and I think usability/ease of use is of the highest value!

  2. The thing is that this is mostly a DAW problem, not a plugin problem. But who cares about that? :D So, it’s not impossible thing to do, but I foresee that this can take pretty large amount of time, so I’ll try to fix some broken/incorrect things first and then I’ll take a look into it.
