B.Serrano has announced the release of Nibiru 3, an improved new version of his freeware multi-purpose parallel filter effect in VST plugin format for Windows.
B.Serrano has released version 3.0 of Nibiru, a free parallel filter VST effect plug-in for Windows.
The plugin features 4 multi-mode filter slots (the filters can operate in LP, BP, HP, and peak filter modes) which function together in a parallel setup. Each of the four filter slots can be bypassed individually or set to a specific filter curve.
The filters can be modulated using 4 LFOs which can work in sync with the host tempo and a virtual 16-step CV sequencer. In order to make the desired modulation patches, the plugin offers a 6×8 modulation matrix.
To make things sound more interesting, Nibiru 3 features additional saturation modes on each of the four filter slots and optional filter cutoff drift which adds slight motion to the cutoff frequency. The user can also adjust the stereo balance and output gain of each filter slot individually. All in all, this is a really nice feature set for a freeware filter and Nibiru 3 could turn out to be a very good choice for filter effect aficionados.
Compared to the older versions of the plugin, the brand new Nibiru 3 features a smaller and better organized GUI, along with aforementioned saturation and drift modes. The plugin is still available for Windows only, due to the defect that SynthEdit was used as the development platform.
