Free Novation Bass Station II Ableton Pack Released By Francis Prève

Francis Prève has released Bass Station II Six Pack, a free Ableton Live instrument pack based on the sounds of Novation’s latest analogue synthesizer keyboard.

As modern analog synths go, the BSII packs a lot of analog power into a small footprint. So while I had it in my studio, I couldn’t resist snagging a few samples of it to share with everyone.

Although the instrument is formatted for use with Ableton Live, the download pack also includes individual WAV files for every patch so the sounds can be used in all DAWs. Francis always provides WAV files with his Live packs, which is pretty cool.

The provided Ableton patches are based on the Simpler instrument. Please note that you’ll need v8.4.1 or higher of Live in order to use the mappings which are included in the pack.

The pack contains samples of six different BSII patches. Since Bass Station II is designed as a bass machine, it makes sense that most of the sounds in the pack are bass patches. My favorite preset of the bunch is the one called Rush, based on the legendary long resonant sound of the Moog Taurus synthesizer.

There aren’t any official demos of the pack, so here’s an interesting video demonstration of the original instrument:
