Preparing the launch of 99Sounds took most of the free time I’d normally invest into writing new BPB articles. For that reason, some of the freebies from last week still haven’t been published on your favorite freeware site. To remedy the situation, here’s a round-up of all the good free stuff which has been released recently.
Things should be back to normal from this point onward though, so expect more standard BPB style news articles in the upcoming days. Enjoy the freebies and make some great music!
Varazuvi Harmonica (VSTi/AUi)
Varazuvi has announced that their Varazuvi Harmonica virtual instrument will be available for free until July 13th for everyone who joins their new DeveloGAME community which is aimed at game development. The instrument is normally priced at £14.99 and available as a VSTi/AUi plugin for Windows and Mac (made with Maize Sampler). Get more info about the free offer at KVR Audio.
Kantyze DnB Sample Pack
Kantyze has released a free collection of audio loops and samples for use in drum and bass tunes. The pack contains 55 bass loops, 23 drum loops, 25 sound effect samples, 27 stabs, and 14 sub bass one shots. You’ll need a Facebook account in order to download the freebie pack. Ivory Bunker Samples
Ivory Bunker has released a collection of five free circuit bending and field recording sample libraries. Some very interesting sounds are included, my favorite being the collection of wave sounds (real ocean waves) which were recorded in Mallorca using a portabel Zoom H4n recorder. The page also features some noisy electronic sounds which have been sampled from various gadgets and DIY instruments. Get the stuff for free via Ivory Bunker.
Noisebud Sekvens
Noisebud has announced the release of Sekvens, a freeware MIDI sequence generator in VST plugin format for Windows. The sequencer was developed with live use in mind, offering some extra features for hands on tweaking. For example, the current sequence can be saved to internal memory and then re-loaedd instantly with the push of a button. This can be useful if you modify the sequence as the song progresses and then need to recall it for the breakdown, or another part of the track.
The plugin is currently in early alpha development stage and the developers say that they won’t be releasing the final version anytime soon. Take a look at the included PDF file to learn about the known bugs of the current alpha version. Get the plugin for free via Noisebud.
Karoryfer Glitch Samples
Karoryfer has released two free packs of glitch samples. They were created by a talented producer called Ludwik Zamenhof and they’re suitable for use in all sorts of electronica and experimental music. I haven’t downloaded the packs yet, but I’ve listened to the available audio demos and there’s some lovely glitch material in there. By the way, you should also take a look at these free bass samples provided by Karoryfer, that’s some seriously good stuff. Get two packs of free glitches via Karoryfer.
Node By Audiomodern (Kontakt)
Audiomodern has released Node, a free NI Kontakt instrument library based on a collection of multi-samples recorded from a custom analogue synthesizer. The pack includes one NI Kontakt preset which would be best described as a sub bass patch. The instrument features portamento and unisono modes. You’ll need to submit your email address before downloading the instrument. Get the patch for free via Audiomodern.
Loudness By WOK
WOK has released Loudness, a simple VST plugin for Windows which emulates the loudness control often found on Hi-Fi audio systems. Turning on the plugin will bring up the amplitude of bass and treble frequencies at low volumes. The free version of the plugin will show a nag screen from time to time. The nag screen can be turned off by contributing a small donation to the developer. Otherwise, the free version of the plugin is fully functional. Get your free copy of Loudness via WOK.

Loopmasters have released a small collection of NI Massive presets for DnB producers. More drum and bass sounds available in the premium Twisted Drum & Bass pack. Grab the free Massive presets via WeTransfer.
Maxwell Smart By Lively Audio
Lively Audio has updated their Maxwell Smart peak limiter VST plugin to v2.0, introducing inter-sample peak detection (ISP) which is equivalent to 4X oversampling. The plugin offers four limiting modes, depending on how much loudness the user is going for. Grab your copy of this peak limiter for free via KVR Audio.
Free Ableton Drum Racks By Voltage Disciple
The last freebie in this article is a collection of drum racks for Ableton Live, released by Voltage Disciple. The racks are based on drum samples captured from the TR-505, TR-626 and TR-727 drum machines and the Volca Drum analogue synth. Some other cool Ableton freebies also available on the page.
