Beatowski has released Full Fat Drums, an interesting free collection of drum one shot samples for boom bap, hip hop and urban music producers.
The sounds in this kit were created on the Akai MPC 1000 during my MPC years. After switching to computer-based music production, I thought these needed some update, so I edited the samples and spiced them up with VST plugins. You will like this kit if you make hip hop music inspired by legends like DJ Premier, Pete Rock and others.
The kit contains 48 samples in total, designed for use in boom bap tunes. You’ll find 16 kicks, 16 snares and 16 hi-hat samples, fully processed and ready for use in your favorite DAW. The samples are available in two different versions – the 24-bit samples are suitable for use in modern digital audio workstations, while the 16-bit versions are included for producers who use the hardware MPC samplers.
The samples were originally created using the Akai MPC 1000 several years ago, however Beatowski has further processed the sounds using various VST effects prior to the release. The sounds are well edited and they sound really nice, so definitely grab these if you’re looking to expand your arsenal of boom bap style drums.
