VST Zone has announced the release of Amplio 2, an updated version of their freeware multi-band effect toolbox in VST plugin format for Windows based digital audio workstations.

VST Zone has updated Amplio to version 2 for Windows. Amplio 2 includes a new multiband Noise gate, total overhaul of the user interface, faster load times, smaller file size, improved controls and more.

You can see our coverage of the original Amplio release for more info about the old version of the plugin. Basically, it’s a multi-band effect with several different FX stages which could be applied to each of the three frequency bands. The old version featured a saturation stage, an exciter, and a spatial enhancer, along with a reverb module for each band.

The new version of the plugin introduces several improvements, including better optimization and smaller file size (with up to 12% drop in CPU usage, according to the developer), a completely refurbished graphical interface (which looks absolutely LOVELY, by the way), as well as a brand new multi-band noise gate with a simple AR envelope. Amplio 2 now also includes a better sounding reverb module and several important bug fixes under the hood.

This is a rare offering in the freeware world, a surprisingly powerful all in one multi-band toolbox for processing your audio. It can do all sorts of stuff, from converting bass frequencies to mono, to chopping drum breaks using the built-in multi-band noise gate. You should seriously grab this one and give it a go if you’re on a lookout for a decent multi-band effect.

The plugin is available for direct free download from the developer’s website. There’s no need to register or submit your personal data.

  1. Producing such good stuff it seems a shame this crowd is sticking with an old 32 bit system that is unlikely to ever be ported to 64bit

It’s not uncommon for VST plugins to be reported as trojans by AV software, since they contain DLL files. I’m pretty sure Amplio 2 and Eclipsis are clean, however your best bet would be to use an alternative antivirus to see what happens.
