Karoryfer Samples has launched Growlybass, a free electric bass guitar sample library featuring the raw sounds of a Squier Jazz bass guitar.

As I’ve already mentioned many times before, I’m a big fan of Karoryfer Samples bass guitar sample packs. They usually do a great job at capturing the raw organic sound of the bass guitars which they sample and Growlybass is no exception. It’s a great collection of natural sounding bass guitar samples, with seven different SFZ mappings and 310 samples in total. Here’s how Karoryfer Samples describes their latest release:

Sample library of a Squier Jazz Bass played by a bassist with very good hair, edited and mapped by a bassist with a shaved head. Regular EADG tuning, though the low E string was also sampled tuned down to C#. The strings are roundwounds, about six months old. All samples recorded direct, using both pickups and all knobs on 10.

Sustained notes have four velocity layers and four round robins, staccato notes and release samples have five round robins, and pick scrapes have four round robins. Royalty-free for all commercial and non-commercial use.

You can download the library directly from the product page linked below. More bass sample packs can be found in our Free Sample Shootout round-up of free guitar samples.

On a related note, Bigcat Instruments has recently released a Kontakt 5 version of the Emilyguitar sample library by Karoryfer. The library was originally released for use with SFZ compatible samplers, but it is now also compatible with Native Instruments Kontakt. Grab it for free via Bigcat Instruments.
