New York based Ableton Live guru AfroDJMac has recently launched Ambient Noise Collaboration, a free Ableton Live instrument pack based on a collection of ambient recordings submitted by various collaborators from around the world.
Eager to collect new ambient sounds, I sent out a post on Facebook asking people to record a few seconds of background noise wherever they happened to be that day. The results were great and I’ve collected these sounds into the AfroDJMac Ambient Noise Collaboration Free Ableton Live Pack.
This Ableton pack is the result of a collaboration between AfroDJMac and several sound designers who submitted their own ambient noise recordings to be included in the freebie pack. The project was announced in a Facebook post a while ago and I’m so sad that I’ve missed the announcement because I’d be delighted to contribute some of my own recordings for this freebie pack (some bits and pieces from my rain sound library, for example).
Still, the people who did contribute have uploaded some lovely recordings, including a wide variety of nature and urban ambiences. These sounds have been used as the building blocks of an awesome Ableton instrument, featuring a bunch of built-in effects and different playback modes. Even if you don’t own Ableton Live, the pack is still a worthy download because it also contains the individual sounds in different audio formats.
After clicking the download link on the product page linked below, you’ll be taken to a Gumroad page where you’ll be offered to choose the amount of money you’d like to pay in order to download the Ambient Noise Collaboration instrument pack. I you enter “0” as the price, you’ll get access the download link right after submitting your email address. There’s no need to verify your email and the download will begin automatically inside your browser. Of course, if you appreciate ADM’s work (over 100 free Ableton Live racks released to date!), you can choose donate some funds instead of downloading the pack for free.
