Free Rhodes Electric Piano For Ableton Live Released By Critical Vibrations

J2Rhodes by Critical Vibrations.

Jeff Navarro from Critical Vibrations has released J2Rhodes, a free electric piano instrument rack for Ableton Live which was based on a set of Rhodes epiano samples by Learjeff.

The instrument rack features eight macro knobs which can be used to control the built-in effects directly from the front panel. The effects include a chorus module, a phaser, wah wah, tremolo, compression, reverb, distortion, as well as a simple low pass filter which works in tandem with the wah wah effect which I’ve mentioned already.

J2Rhodes is based on one of my favorite free electric piano sample libraries. It’s the JRhodes sample collection by Learjeff, a great sounding electric piano sample collection which is available for free download in several different formats. It perfectly captures the sound of the 1977 Mark I Rhodes Stage Piano and it is also included in BPB’s list of free piano sample libraries.

Learjeff gave permission to Jeff Navaro from Critical Vibrations to use these samples for a free Ableton Live instrument rack and that’s how J2Rhodes came about. I can’t test the instrument myself because I don’t own Live, however the official demo video embedded below suggests that Jeff has done a great job converting these samples for use with Ableton Live.

Please note that you’ll be asked to submit your email address before downloading the instrument. Subscribing to the mailing list is completely optional though and you can skip that part completely. Btw, you should check out the rest of the Critical Vibrations website too if you use Ableton, since they are offering several other instrument racks which can also be downloaded free of charge.
