OK so these round-up articles are supposed to be published each Sunday, but I’ve had a super busy weekend and had to postpone the article for today. The good news is that the previous week introduced us to literally tons of new freebies, so get ready to download some cool free production tools!
We have free drum samples from the latest analog drum machine by AKAI, some nice sleigh bells loops, a neat NI Reaktor instrument, a mixing contest with a $150 prize and a bunch of other stuff. Enjoy!
- Synth 1 Trance Templates VOL 2 is an interesting collection of free trance templates by Lukasz Jankowski. The templates are available for seven different DAWs and they all use the freeware Synth1 as the main sound source, so there’s a pretty large chance that you’ll be able to use these templates on your machine. Check out the demo video on YouTube for a closer look at the contents.
- Oxygen Mixing Contest is a mixing contest organized by Modern Mixing. They are offering a $150 cash prize to the winner, but you’ll need to hurry up since the contest ends in three days!
- Akai Wolf Samples is a free collection of drum samples captured from the Akai Rhythm Wolf drum machine, recorded by the kind people at Synth Magic. The machine has been getting some bad reviews lately, but on the other hand it’s analog and it’s dirt cheap. Here’s you chance to hear the raw sounds of this super affordable drum machine and decide whether or not you want to put it on your wishlist for the holidays.
- PCM-4 Soundfont Player is a freeware SoundFont player by mztk. This free instrument in VSTi plugin format was made with SynthEdit and it’s available for 32-bit Windows only.
- Twinkle is yet another awesome Reaktor freebie by Boscomac. It’s a physical modeling synthesizer capable of generating some rather lovely glockenspiel-like sounds. It features an interesting built-in reverse delay effect, along with an exciter which can bring out the higher frequencies if you’re aiming for a sharper sound.
- Sleigh Bells Loops is a free collection of bass guitar samples. Of course it’s not a collection of bass guitar samples, it’s a sleigh bells loop library created by Mihai Sorohan and it’s a perfect way to prepare your tunes for this holiday season.
- Midi Dynamics is a free Ableton Live pack by our friend PerforModule. The pack contains four Ableton devices which can be used to control the dynamics of MIDI data. Cool stuff! More free stuff by PerforModule available via Audiobombs and right here on BPB.
- Tech Loops : Mini Pack vol.2 features 30 audio loops and 10 MIDI files for techno tracks. This is the latest free sample pack by Beatmatch, a sound design company which has released quite a few free loop packs this year.
- Apoth Soundpacks is a YouTube playlist which features links to four free sample packs (so far) created by Apoth. Some nice inspiring samples for hip hop and dubstep producers.
- Pins & Bass Soundpack is a free sample pack by KM Productions.
- Penguin XCX Soundpack and Sempiternal Soundpack are two brand new free sample packs by Kyle Mohr. His sample packs are optimized for quick jamming with your MIDI sample trigger and they can be a nice source of inspiration for your new tunes.
