Mellowmuse EQ1A Analog Style Equalizer VST/AU Plugin Is Now FREE!

EQ1A is a an analog style parametric equalizer developed by Mellowmuse. This VST/AU/AAX/RTAS plugin for Windows and Mac based digital audio workstations is now re-released as freeware!

This plugin was originally available as a commercial product and it was priced at $49 ever since the official release back in December of 2011. A couple of days ago however, the developer has released the AAX version of the plugin and also decided to give it away as their first freebie!

To make things even cooler, this is not a time limited offer. EQ1A is offered as a free download from the developer website and it will remain free forever. Also, judging by the official announcement posted in their news section, we can expect more freebies from Mellowmuse early in 2015. Pretty cool!

At the time of writing this news article, I still haven’t managed to test the plugin so I can say much more about its sound or its features. From what I can tell by looking at the screenshots, it’s a 4-band parametric equalizer with an added HP filter with variable resonance.

Right after posting this, I’ll go on and make a brief demo video which will be added to the article. I’ve heard good things about other Mellowmuse products, so I’m quite eager to hear EQ1A in action. Check back later for a demo video and a short written review!

UPDATE: I’ve tested the plugin and the demo video has been added to the article. After a first 10 minute test, I can definitely say that I like this plugin. It’s easy to use, takes little CPU and you can get some nice sounding broad boosts with it. I didn’t like the fact that the two knobs in the HP filter are very hard to control. I’ve accidentally changed the resonance setting numerous time while trying to move the cutoff knob.
