Pecheneg Tremolo – Freeware Tremolo Effect VST Plugin For Windows

13

Pecheneg Tremolo is a freeware tremolo effect developed by PechenegFX, available in VST plugin format for 32-bit and 64-bit digital audio workstations running on Windows.

This plugin almost managed to completely slip under my awesome freeware radar, however thankfully I took it for a quick spin today and was literally blown away by it. It was stuck in my to-do list for more than a week waiting to be tested and I’m so glad that I finally installed it and checked it out.

Don’t get me wrong, Pecheneg Tremolo is not a groundbreaking new plugin concept or anything like that, but it is a well coded freeware mixing tool which perfectly handles the tasks which its supposed to perform. And it’s more than just a one trick pony, as I’ll explain below.

Even though it’s called Pecheneg Tremolo, this plugin is actually much more than a simple tremolo effect. It can also work as an auto-pan utility and a high precision faux sidechain generator (for emulating the volume pumping effect without using a compressor). I’ve showcased all three usage scenarios in the short demo video attached to this article.

The interface is nice and clean (although it could be a bit too big for use on smaller screens), the controls are precise and super easy to understand and the performance was flawless, at least on my machine. Every possible setting can be dialed in with less than four or five mouse clicks and everything just works.

The waveform display in the upper-right corner of the GUI is of great help for visualizing what’s actually going on with the processed audio signal and the phase control will help you perfectly align the tremolo/panning effect with the tempo of your project. Speaking of tempo, the plugin can be synchronized to the host application’s BPM setting, or used in manual mode if you prefer setting the tempo in Hz. The plugin is also 64-bit compatible which is becoming more and more important nowadays. I could go on like this forever, but the point is that there’s basically no reason for you to pass on this brilliant little freebie.

Pecheneg Tremolo is definitely one of the freeware highlights of the year so far in my opinion. The concept reminds me a lot of the awesome A1StereoControl freeware plugin in terms of usability and design quality. It is now officially a part of my toolbox of must-have freeware mixing utilities and creative modulation effects.

I needed a tremolo vst with phase shift. This is epic.

    Thank you

  2. pecheneng tremolo is the best tremolo that I have tested so far. I have tested a lot. Use tremolo a lot in my music.
Unfortunately it is only VST 2. I have Cubase. And Steinberg is withdrawing supprt for VST 2.
Would it be possible to make a VST3 version? Would gladly pay for such a version.
AutoTremWah is Vst3 but does not do the same thing as tremolo.
    Vst 3 is my wish
