Wave Alchemy has released a free sample pack featuring a collection of drum sounds captured from the MFB Tanzbär analogue drum machine and processed with high-end outboard gear.
It’s always great to get a free drum machine sample pack from Wave Alchemy. These guys make amazing sample packs, taking care of every detail and using various hardware processing tools to get the best our the sampled instruments. Their drum samples have been the staple of my drum tracks for quite a while, in tandem with Goldbaby samples and some of my personal drum recordings.
Their latest release is a collection of drum hits sampled from the MFB Tanzbär analogue drum machine. This particular drum machine can generate some fantastic punchy drum sounds, which work great for all sorts of electronic music. I’m not a big fan of the Tanzbär’s snare drum module, but the kicks and the toms sound just the way I like them. Wave Alchemy has processed the output of the MFB Tanzbär with some cool outboard gear, adding a lovely bit of saturation on top and adding their personal signature to the sampled drum hits.
The freebie pack contains 68 drum samples in 24-bit WAV format, along with a handy collection of drum kit presets for popular sampler instruments such as NI Kontakt and HALion. It’s awesome to see that Wave Alchemy has also included a set of SFZ patches, which is great news for users who enjoy working with this free format. My two favorite instruments for playing SFZ libraries are Zampler and sforzando, both of which are freeware of course.

You can find more Wave Alchemy freebies scattered around their website. I highly recommend their drum sample packs (both free and commercial) as some of the best electronic drum sounds out there. Seriously worth a look if you haven’t purchased their products or downloaded their free stuff in the past.
Finally, here’s an unofficial video demonstration of the drum machine which was sampled for this drum sample pack. Wave Alchemy’s samples are a bit more saturated and crunchy than the sounds which you’ll hear in the video below, but you’ll get a good enough idea of what to expect from the drum hits included in this MFB Tanzbär sample pack.
