Luftrum has released Free Field Recordings, an impressive collection of field recordings with over 1 GB of high quality audio material. The library is free to download via SoundCloud under the CC BY 3.0 license, but you can also purchase it on a pay what you want basis whereas all proceedings are donated directly to the Save the Children charity organization.
The library contains 59 individual WAV recordings which were recorded with different microphones and different recording techniques. Apart from the standard field recordings of natural landscapes (forest atmospheres, birds, heavy rainfall, etc.) and urban locations (such as airports and metro stations), the library also contains a set of electronic circuitry sounds captured with coil pickups (which sound absolutely amazing), as well as some really cool binaural recordings and some totally weird stuff which was captured with a contact microphone (such as the sound of ants walking on sugar!).

Free Field Recordings is an awesome collection of nature sounds and unique sonic textures which and it’s definitely a recommended download if you’re looking for a high quality pack of field recordings and sound design material. The library can be downloaded for free directly from SoundCloud (all sounds need to be downloaded individually) under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 3.0).
Alternatively, you can purchase the whole collection in a single pack under a “user license” which replaces the CC BY 3.0 license and gives you permission to use the sounds without giving credit to the author (everything else is the same as in the CC BY 3.0 license). You will also get all future updates completely free of charge (more sounds will be added to the Free Field Recordings collection in the future).
The library can be purchased on a pay what you want basis, with a minimum donation of $5. All proceedings from the Free Field Recordings pack will be donated directly to the Save the Children charity organization.
