Free R&B Chord Progression Pack By Stefan Guy

LearnBeatMaking.com has released Popular ProGressions (Lite), a free collection of chord progression MIDI template files for pop and R&B music production.

Popular ProGressions (Lite) is a chord progression loop pack consisting of 31 different popular Pop and R&B chord progressions. The pack includes basic triad chord progressions that are made to sound full like in chart topping pop ballads along with lush major and minor add 9 chord progressions voiced and arranged perfectly in the sound of 90s R&B classics. The loops come in both MIDI and Apple Loop format to allow for complete customisation of the loops. Changing key, tempo or even chords within the loops is a breeze.

Popular ProGressions (Lite) was made using Apple’s Logic Pro X and programmed by music producer and keyboardist Stefan Guy. It was crafted not only to help users create better music but to serve as an educational tool. MIDI loops allow the user to view what chords have been played in their DAW. Popular ProGressions (Lite) is a free product with the more extensive full version coming soon.

Popular ProGressions (Lite) contains 31 chord progressions, sorted into three categories: pop, R&B and hip-hop. The pack is undeniably a useful resource for beginner musicians and beat makers who want to learn more about different chord progressions and how they’re used to create songs. It’s totally worth the download if you’re looking for free chord progressions in Acid WAV and/or MIDI format.

The only problem is that the download system is a bit complicated.

(PLEASE READ UPDATE BELOW) In order to get the pack for free, you will first need to share the product page on Twitter or Facebook and then also submit your email address which will be used to send you the download link. After clicking the download link in your email, you’ll be forwarded to a Sellfy page which will ask you to sign up for this service in order to get your free download. At this point I was just about to close the tab and give up, but I’ve noticed a button labeled “Instant Download” which will take you to the actual download link without being forced to sign up for Sellfy. If you want to skip all of these steps, you can also choose donate to $2 and download the chord progressions right away.

Don’t get me wrong, the included content is well worth the $2 (and more), however I do wish there were fewer steps required for those who want to get the pack for free. Asking for email or a share on Facebook and Twitter is totally fine with me, but email + share + (optional) Sellfy signup is a bit too much. Still, this is a really good chord progression collection and well worth the download for everyone interested! Also check out Stefan’s YouTube channel for some really cool music making videos.
