Free Grand Piano SFZ Library By Production Voices!

8

Production Voices has released Estate Grand LE, a free grand piano SFZ library (optimized for use with Plogue sforzando) featuring the sounds of the Kawai GS-60 semi-concert grand piano.

Estate Grand LE is based on the commercial Estate Grand sample library by Production Voices, featuring 791 samples from the full version of the product, with up to ten velocity layers per sampled note. The samples are provided in FLAC format. The free library takes 1.8 GB of disk space when extracted, although the download is well compressed into a compact 619 MB ZIP package. In addition, the freebie version’s custom scripted user interface for Plogue sforzando features pretty much the same functionality as the one found the full Estate Grand library, apart from the the M/S and room microphone controls that are not included. The users can control the volume of the pedal noise, key up and key release samples, as well as the parameters of the instrument’s built-in reverb effect.

The samples included in the free version of the library were captured with a microphone that was placed inside the piano itself, resulting in a clean and crisp grand piano sound. Estate Grand LE sounds splendid and is an absolute steal considering the fact that it’s being offered as a free download on the Production Voices website. While the excellent Piano in 162 (over 5 GB in size, all notes sampled with two microphone positions) is still the absolute champion when it comes to free piano sample libraries, Estate Grand LE offers a fantastic grand piano sound in a compact package that is potentially a better solution for portable setups.

The full version of Estate Grand is priced at $99 and features over 11 GB of sampled material (4,215 samples in total) with three microphone positions per sample, including a mid-side microphone setup that is mono compatible. Compared to the free version, Estate Grand provides much more in terms of versatility and tonal variety, with the M/S microphone placement and the authentic room microphone samples that were captured in the library of a country manor.

To grab your free copy of Estate Grand LE, visit the product page linked below and submit your name and email address in the subscription form on the right. You will receive the download link after confirming your email address. To install the library on your computer, first install the free sforzando virtual instrument by Plogue, load it in your digital audio workstation of choice and that drag and drop the Estate Grand.bank file from the Estate Grand LE install folder onto the sforzando user interface. The library will be automatically registered and added to the instrument selection the next time you load sforzando.

I’m downloading it right now, can’t wait to try it! Piano in 162 is actually amazing but this also seems quite promising!

  2. Just downloaded. It’s a very nicely sampled bright and close-miked piano. It might not sound as rich as Piano In 162, but might be more useful – it sounds like it will be much easier to fit into all kinds of dense mixes from rock to EDM.

  3. I can’t get it to load up. I’ve put it in a few different locations inside the Plogue folder but so far no luck. :(
    Any tips?

    • Drag the Estate Grand.bank.xml file anywhere onto the Sforzando interface (either as a plugin or in standalone mode) and you should get the pictures and controls.

      • Hi, I know this is a month old but could you please help me out?
I did whatever the manual told, till dragging the xml file to the interface, but it doesn’t recognise my digital piano (Casio PX-150) and when I press the on screen keys with the cursor, no sound comes. Please help.

Which VST host are you using? Maybe you need to adjust the MIDI input device in its settings. Same goes for the standalone version of sforzando.

  4. Hi,

I have been looking up for piano samples for using in a free to play mobile game and I intend to use the sfz format which is supported by the app. What is the license regarding Piano 162 and this Grand Piano ? Is there a creative commons licensing available ?

    Thank you
