Rhythmic Robot Releases Free PatchVault Taster For NI Kontakt

Rhythmic Robot has released PatchVault Taster, a free NI Kontakt instrument featuring a multi-sampled version a Roland Jupiter 6 factory brass patch.

This miniature Kontakt library serves as a free preview of Rhythmic Robot’s forthcoming PatchVault product series. The idea behind PatchVault is to create a new range of cheap Kontakt libraries that will deliver legendary synthesizer sounds, packed in nicely designed mini-synth GUIs at very low prices. This first freebie release basically serves as an example of what future PatchVault packs will look like.

PatchVault Taster is based on the first factory patch from Roland’s Jupiter 6 hardware synthesizer. It’s sort of a mix between a brass and pad sound, but the cool thing about this mini-pack is that you can fully transform the samples using the controls available on the GUI.

The user interface features a volume ADSR envelope (which unfortunately can’t be used to modulate the filter), an interesting tilt equalizer and a resonant low-pass filter, a spread effect (which spreads the keys across the stereo field), an FX section with chorus and tube distortion, a mono on/off switch with a glide amount parameter and note velocity settings. The included sample set is actually a small part of a forthcoming commercial Roland Jupiter 6 sound pack for NI Kontakt that has also been announced by Rhythmic Robot.

As always, it’s worth pointing out that the instrument will only work in demo mode in Kontakt Player. The full version of NI Kontakt 5 is required in order to use PatchVault Taster without a 15 minute time limit.

PatchVault Taster is available for free download via Rhythmic Robot (15.6 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 1 instrument patch in NKI format for NI Kontakt 5).
