Noizefield Releases Free NoizeDelay VST Plugin

Noizefield has introduced NoizeDelay, a freeware multi-tap delay effect featuring frequency shifting, glitch FX and a multi-mode filter on each tap.

NoizeDelay is a four tap delay effect, meaning that you can essentially look at it as four delay units packed into one. In addition to that, the plugin features a great little selection of built-in effects and modulation tools on each tap, opening a world of possibilities for creative sound design and complex loop creation.

With an elaborate plugin such as this one, it is often quite easy to get confused with so many different control parameters crammed into a single user interface. NoizeDelay’s designers solved this issue by splitting the interface into five tabs (one tab for each tap and an additional one for displaying some basic info about the plugin), making the plugin’s architecture much easier to comprehend. Although the design could be improved with a nicer color scheme (just a personal preference, of course), I’m quite happy with how NoizeDelay looks and how it responds to the user’s input.

The way in which NoizeDelay syncs to the host’s tempo setting is quite interesting. When host sync is switched on, the plugin doesn’t snap to your DAW’s current BPM setting as you’d expect. Instead, the time scale on the GUI adapts to it. So, if you manually align the time slider to one of the white lines on the scale, it will be synchronized to your host’s tempo. While this sounds complicated and unnecessary at first, I’ve had lots of fun with automating the time slider so that it reaches perfect sync after a certain amount of time, which is why I definitely don’t mind having such an option available.

Each tap features individual glitch and multi-mode filter effects, along with a pretty cool frequency shifter module. Other notable features include a built-in patch manager and global controls for volume, time division, as well as MIDI learn and bypass. NoizeDelay is definitely a recommended download for users who are looking to get a powerful multi-tap delay for free. The only major drawback here is the fact that the plugin will only work in 32-bit host applications on Windows, since it was made with SynthMaker. To download your free copy of NoizeDelay, you will need to sign up for a free user account over at Noizefield’s website.
