Marco Scherer has released Drum Depot: Vermona DRM, a collection of five commercial drum kits and 50 additional free drum loops sampled from the Vermona DRM1 MKIII analog drum machine.
This release is the third addition to Marco Scherer’s ongoing Drum Depot series of drum sample packs, offering expertly crafted drum one shots available at no-brainer prices. Mr Scherer’s latest drum kit collection (priced at €1.99) features the sounds of the Vermona DRM1 MKIII drum machine that was passed through a TL Audio 5021 valve compressor and processed with a variety of outboard gear for added punch and character. The pack contains five drum kits with 16 samples each, ready for use in NI Maschine, NI Kontakt 5, NI Battery 3, FXpansion Geist , Ableton Live and all WAV compatible instruments and digital audio workstations.

I was surprised by the complexity and the richness of the included grooves, being that these sequences were created using nothing but a single drum machine. Marco Scherer has created some wonderful rhythms by taking advantage of Vermona DRM1’s eight drum voices, layering some pretty solid kicks and punchy snares with noisy percussive sequences and a variety of almost synth-like sounds. There’s no doubt that these loops will provide the necessary spark of inspiration for your next electro/techno project.
