Free Samples & Loops Round-Up (May 2016)

Close all other tabs in your browser and prepare your computer for yet another epic soundware download session. Here comes this month’s list of free sample packs and sound banks that weren’t featured in our main Soundware News section. Enjoy!

It’s a Jazz Thing is an awesome jazzy drum track (complete backing track!) by Drumdrops, available via Loopmasters. The pack can be downloaded for £1 (to cover the server costs) and you get the full license for using these drum loops in your commercial releases. Coming from a well known drum sample label like Drumdrops, there’s little doubt that these are some of the best royalty free jazz drum loops you can get online, especially for the price. Other cheap stuff available via Loopmasters this month includes the EDM Production Sampler by Sonic Mechanics and the excellent Wave Alchemy Label Sampler 3 with 175 unique royalty free drum hits.

Nostromos Free LoopPack is a collection of ten cinematic loops made using Nostromos, a brand new instrument plugin by SampleScience. This freebie loop pack is hosted at Audiobombs who have also recently released a neat free Deep House Sample Pack by Phasen.

BHK Samples has released another great freebie pack for DnB producers. Their new Foley Bonus Pack contains exclusive breaks, samples and remix stems that can’t be downloaded elsewhere. Limited amount of downloads available, sharing on a social network of your choice is required in order to get the download link.

SampleNinjas are continuing their free sample pack series with the release of Free Pack vol 5, a collection of 22 royalty free glitch samples and loops that were handpicked from their forthcoming Modular Madness Pack. Definitely worth the download if you’re into weird mechanical sounds and malfunctioned computer noises. Want more? Check out Mangling Audio by Poztman.

Chroma for Stylus RMX is back once again and is being offered as a free download for a limited time only. In Session Audio is currently offering a “Buy 3 and get on FREE” type of deal and this free library will actually count as a commercial product in your shopping cart, in case you want to grab that additional freebie.

Our friend AfroDJMac is back with yet another inspiring Ableton Live freebie this month. His latest release is SympleSound Pro 2, an instrument rack full of Dave Smith Instruments Pro 2 analog synthesizer sounds for Ableton Live users.

Want some raw acoustic drum kit one shots? You’ll definitely want to check out Real Drums Vol. 1 by Reddit user Geo747. A Redditor who samples his entire drum kit and posts the (rather excellent, if I may add) results as a free download online, it doesn’t get more underground than this.

If you use Massive by Native Instruments, here’s a neat little freebie for you. MASSIVE 925 is a free Massive soundbank made by Daru, featuring 80 nicely polished patches with macros, tags, and descriptions.

Omnisphere users, on the other hand, can download the Ethnic Pack for Omnisphere 2, crafted by Pennysound.

Tape DD-10 is an old drum machine sound library by Headless Buddha Samples that is now back online and available for free download via InTheBox SoundShop.

For all fans of experimental sound design, Vstoff has created Harmonics, an interesting Kontakt instrument that captures the sound of harmonics being generated between piano strings and pedals. You’ll need to provide a valid email address in order to get the download link.

Last but not least, Function Loops have launched Function Loops Academy. It’s a growing collection of well made and very informative video tutorials covering various music production techniques. They have published two video tutorials so far, explaining how to clean up your kicks and how to create chord progressions.
