Dubspot has released Dubspot Sounds V4, a free (email subscription required) collection of drum loops, chord progressions and hybrid kick drum samples designed by Mike Kiraly.
This is the fourth addition to the Dubspot Sounds series of freely downloadable and 100% royalty free sample libraries. All included sounds were designed by Mike Kiraly, who is a New York based music producer, sound designer, and audio engineer.
The library contains 65 sounds in total, sorted into three categories: breakbeat loops, chord progressions and hybrid kick drums. The sounds are provided in 24-bit WAV format (stereo). The loops are tempo labeled and sorted into separate directories by type.
The breakbeats folder contains 15 electronic drum loops in total, with the tempo ranging between 110 BPM and 120 BPM. This is my favorite part of the library, featuring the sounds of some pretty neat hardware drum machines such as the Vermona DRM mkIII, Elektron Machinedrum and Nord Drum 2. The included drum loops are nice and groovy and they can work great for layering on top of other drum tracks, or for recycling in a loop slicer or a suitable sampler instrument (here’s a great freeware one).
The kicks folder also packs some rather solid sounds. There are 30 kicks in total to choose from and they were created by layering a variety of analog and digital sound sources. The kicks are mostly suitable for use in electronic music genres such as breakbeat, electro and house. Last but not least, the library contains a set of 20 chord progressions and sequences that were sampled from a variety of analog and digital synthesizers (one of which is the quite rare Akai AX60).
