Free Samples & Loops Round-Up (June 2016)

BPB’s free soundware roundup is back, bringing you hundreds of megabytes of free samples, loops and MIDI files from a variety of online sources. It might be a good idea to shout a few words of motivation to your trusty wireless router before pushing it into yet another epic soundware download session.

Loopmasters are offering the 5Pin Media Label Sampler 4 (with a £1 price tag to cover the download costs), containing a selection of loops, one shot samples and MIDI sequences from 5PIN Media’s various commercial releases. The taster pack contains 480 MB of audio material in total, all of which is completely royalty free (you can use it in your commercial projects without purchasing the full products). You can also check out the UNDRGRND Sounds Label Sampler containing 300 MB of loops crafted by the newly launched UNDRGRND Sounds label. There are plenty of active sales on the Loopmasters website as well, including the 50% discount on Wave Alchemy Electrik Drums (that’s just £4.49 for 450 royalty free Vermona DRM MKII drum machine samples).

Producer Spot and Piggysounds have introduced Producer’s Elements, a neat collection of five different sample packs containing 128 sounds in total. Inside the library, you’ll find a set of Korg Volca drum samples, acoustic drum hits, Arturia Microbrute analog bass samples, Rhodes MKI electric piano chords (the real deal, no emulation!) and a selection of SFX hits. Everything was recorded through Universal Audio Apollo A/D converters.

Our friend AforDJMac has released the 1979 Crumar Performer Free Ableton Live Pack, a pretty cool Ableton Live freebie featuring the sounds of the legendary Crumar Performer analog synthesizer. Perfect for warm analog string sounds, this Ableton rack also provides some basic synth parameter controls (attack/release, filter cutoff and resonance) and a built-in delay effect.

If you want even more synth sounds for Ableton Live, check out the new Free Korg Minilogue Ableton Live Instrument by Expanding Sound. It contains six Ableton instruments from the full version of the product.

Beatmatch.info has released EDM Drums, a freely downloadable collection of 60 royalty free electronic drum samples in 24-bit WAV/AIFF formats. The library also includes Ableton Live and NI Maschine templates. You’ll need to sign up for a Beatmatch.info user account in order to download the freebie pack (email address required).

The fourth and last Ableton Live freebie of the month is the Getter Style Ableton Project by Cymatics (email address required). This one also requires a copy of Xfer Records Serum.

Samplephonics are back with yet another freebie, offering a solid pack of DnB drum samples that can be downloaded completely free of charge from their website. The Free DnB Drums pack contains 64 royalty free drum hits and can be downloaded after signing up for a Samplephonics user account (registration is free, valid email address required).

Noizefield and sound designer Ivo Ivanov have launched Future Soundz, a sound design competition where every entrant can download everyone else’s submitted sounds. Three winners will also receive a collection of Glitchmachines software for free.

Abletunes have launched the Free Riser Sound Effects Sample Pack with over 200 unique sound effects designed for use in electronic music. You’ll need to connect to The Artist Union via SoundCloud in order to download the freebie pack (SoundCloud account required). For more free sound effects, check out the Sound Design Tools sample library by Gavin Thibodeau.

Simpulse Freddy is a brand new Mesa OS guitar cab impulse response collection by Wilkinson Audio. The collection is normally priced at $5, but it is currently being offered as a free download.

TonedAudio is offering a free collection of drum hits, synth samples and NI Massive patches to everyone who signs up to their mailing list. They are also offering a cheap collection of drum hits (priced at just £0.99) in their Sellfy store.

Function Loops are giving away the new Ibiza Percussion Loops sound collection as a free download on their website (valid email address required).

A Sound Effect is giving away a collection of 30 Premium Ambisonics Sound Effects for everyone who signs up for the freebie via email. The total length of the included sounds is over 50 minutes (over 1.8 GB size on disk).

Ableton and Lawrence English are offering a nice selection of free field recordings (download via SoundCloud).

Hello Tom. I spent a lot of hours yesterday trying to find midi piano loops on a format compatible with cubase pro 8. Steinberg has Neo Soul Keys that I’m going to try thr free 30 day trial but in the mean time do you know of any? Thanks. Larry
