Free Multi-Channel Loudness Meter By Youlean (KVRDC 2016)

1

Youlean has introduced Youlean Loudness Meter, a freeware multi-channel loudness meter in VST/VST3/AU plugin formats for PC and Mac based hosts as part of KVR Developer Challenge 2016.

Youlean Loudness Meter supports many international standards such as ITU, EBU, ATSC, OP, ARIB, AGCOM. It features a histogram display using which you can track all your loudness measurements, and it can remember data for up to 24 hours. Loudness data is also saved with the host session, and it will be recalled after session reload.

One cool feature is the histogram’s Time Code mode. Time Code will allow you to remeasure a particular part of your session while keeping the rest of the data intact. For example, let’s say that you have measured a song that lasts 3 minutes, and now you need to change the gain value between the 33 and 40 seconds mark. Time Code will allow you to measure loudness only in that particular part of the track (from 33 seconds to 40 seconds), while all the rest data will remain intact. Integrated and loudness range measurements will be updated, taking that new information into account. This could be a huge time saver if you’ve just measured a long session (imagine having to remeasure an hour-long session for just one small change).

Youlean Loudness Meter comes in a nice looking and a resizable user interface. It is compatible with both PC and Mac based host applications, making this freeware package a very viable alternative to some of its rather expensive competitors. Also, Youlean Loudness Meter is still in active development, and the developer promises to add new features such as GUI scaling so this meter might get even better in the future.

Youlean Loudness Meter is available for free download via Youlean’s website (8.7 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/VST3/AU plugin formats for Windows & Mac OS)

  1. Hello Tomislav

I’m just trying out the new Beta of Youlean. It seems pretty good. I am wondering how to access and use the saved data “It features a histogram display using which you can track all your loudness measurements, and it can remember data for up to 24 hours. Loudness data is also saved with the host session, and it will be recalled after session reload.” Do you know how to use this data?
    Cheers, Myles
