99Sounds has introduced Digital Malfunctions, a free collection of abstract audio loops and textures crafted by Timur Arynov of MyOSS.
Digital Malfunctions contains 350 audio loops in total. The included loop content was created using a variety of sound design technique, with a heavy emphasis on randomization. Almost all parameters were randomized during the creation process, except for the tempo setting which remained constant at all times. Everything else was fully randomized, including the sequencer that was used to play the notes, and the effects that were used for processing the loops into their final shape.
The loops are sorted into six categories, according to the effects that were used to make them (ring modulated loops, filtered loops, delayed loops, etc.). All content is provided in 24-bit WAV format and is completely royalty-free for use in both commercial and non-commercial projects.
Unsurprisingly, the loops included in Digital Malfunctions blend very well with Timur Arynov’s previous release on 99Sounds, the excellent Dark Engine sample library. Packed with heavily distorted and noisy bass and drum one-shot samples, Dark Engine complements the noisy and heavily randomized loops in Digital Malfunctions incredibly well. If you’re a fan of this type of sound design, make sure to check out Timur Arynov’s project MyOSS, which is available at Bandcamp.
Digital Malfunctions is available for free download via 99Sounds (389 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 350 audio loops in 24-bit WAV format).
