Synth Magic has announced the release of StrettEVS, a free collection of multi-sampled hardware synthesizer patches for Native Instruments Kontakt.
The library is based on a collection of sounds sampled from three different synthesizers: Evolution EVS1, Waldorf Streichfett, and Korg DSS-1. The samples are provided in Kontakt’s proprietary NCW file format, meaning that you can’t use any other sampler to play the sounds. The included patches will work for 15 minutes only in the free Kontakt Player, so the full version of Kontakt is definitely required for regular use.
Each synth is featured with several multi-sample sets which function as oscillators in the custom-coded Kontakt instrument. StrettEVS comes with three Streichfett sets, seven EVS1 sets, and two DSS1 sets. These can be processed using a rather versatile sound engine, including fine and coarse tuning controls, a saturated low-pass filter (modulated via envelope and velocity), convolution reverb, and a delay effect. The FX section can be fully bypassed.
There are plenty of factory presets to choose from (32 in total), along with a decent selection of multi-patches which are basically stacks of several single patches. The sound quality is as expected from Synth Magic – a pure 10/10, with more than a few very well programmed and inspirational presets.
Best of all, the library can be downloaded completely free of charge from Synth Magic’s official SoundCloud page linked below, no strings attached. You can download plenty more freebies, as well as a wide range of commercial products, from Synth Magic’s website.
StrettEVS is available for free download via SoundCloud (588 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 32 instrument patches in NKI format for Native Instruments Kontakt).
