Our roundup of free samples and loops arrives with a bit of delay this time. April was a very busy month and visiting both the Musikmesse in Frankfurt and Superbooth in Berlin left me with less time for posting about freeware news. That’s why this list includes some of the free sample packs released in early May, as well as all best free soundware from April.
Things are back to normal now, though, so expect a lot more freeware coverage in the days to come. Until then, here’s the list of the best free sample packs that haven’t been featured in our news section yet.
Free Samples & Loops
- Loopmasters are offering the Ghost Syndicate Label Sampler as a free download from their website. The pack contains a selection of royalty-free sounds from the label’s DnB-oriented sample packs. A payment fee of £1 is required in order to cover the download bandwidth costs.
- Ghosthack has released Neurofunk, a free collection of samples and loops for use in drum and bass projects. Contains 70 sounds in total, requires a SoundCloud or Facebook account to download.
- Paree Katti has released a set of 45 Free High Pitched Snare Samples for use in dubstep, electro, and DnB projects. These are modern, aggressive sounding snares that cut through a bass-heavy mix with ease.
- Dream Audio Tools has released Dream Box, a free NI Kontakt sample library featuring the sounds of an old wooden music box.
- Sampleism is offering the Nuclear Winter: B-Sides library (for NI Kontakt) by Halflight Sampling as a free download in their online store.
- PsiloCybian has released Psytrance Sample Bank, a free collection of percussion samples and sound effects designed for use in trance projects.
- LoopLords have released 80s Drums Vol.1, a free collection of drum sounds sampled from eight iconic drum machines. The sounds were recorded directly and have been edited without any additional processing. This means that you’re getting raw, authentic drum sounds of the eighties.
- Kontakt Hub is offering the Space Evolutions sound library for NI Kontakt as an exclusive free download on their website. It is a free download for all registered members and the registration process is also completely free (valid email address is required).
- R-Loops have released Free Hip-Hop Drum Kits, a free collection of drum samples handpicked from their various commercial releases. These are 100% royalty free.
- Abletonic has released a free M1 House Piano Sample Pack as a bonus download in a free video tutorial.
- Soundethers has released Free World, a free NI Kontakt instrument featuring evolving pads and textures for use in soundtracks, IDM tracks, and experimental music. The download process is a bit unusual, as you’ll need to contact the creators via email and ask them to send you the download link.
Free Sound Banks
- Bellatrix Audio has announced that the Aura II sound bank for Reveal Sound Spire is now available for free download from their website. The sound bank contains 128 presets suitable for use in modern styles of electronic music. The included sounds are 100% royalty free.
- Diginoiz is offering the Sylenth Modern Pop Sounds for Sylenth1 as a free download on their website.
- Yamaha has released a free Vocaloid tutorial which also includes freely downloadable project files and samples.
- Square & line has released DroneMorph, a free instrument library for Bitwig.
