Sampleson Releases “Electrix BPB Edition” Free Piano VST Plugin

16

Sampleson has announced the release of Electrix BPB Edition, a freeware electric piano instrument in VST and AU plugin formats for compatible DAW applications on PC and Mac.

Electrix BPB Edition is an upgraded version of the previously released Electrix plugin. The functionality is pretty much the same as in the original, apart from the new stereo tremolo effect with adjustable frequency. This type of effect is often used to make an electric piano sound wider and more mellow. The user interface also remained unchanged for the most part, except for the shiny BPB logo in the lower-right corner. Thanks for that, Sampleson! :)

If you already own and enjoy using the old version of Electrix, chances are you’ll want to upgrade to Electrix BPB Edition as the tremolo is a nice addition to the feature set. To those unfamiliar with Electrix, it is a virtual piano instrument based on the Hohner Electra Piano T which was used in various famous songs by Led Zeppelin. Sampleson built the instrument from scratch without using samples, resulting in a very playable and dynamic virtual piano. It sounds noticeably different at low and high velocities, allowing for expressive playing.

The instrument can be downloaded completely free of charge from Sampleson’s website, with optional donations. It is offered as a standalone instrument, as well as a VST and AU plugin for compatible host applications on PC and Mac. Both 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported. We would like to thank Sampleson for releasing this special “BPB Edition” of the instrument. While you’re at their website, don’t forget to check out the freely downloadable version of the Brushify Drums instrument.

Electrix BPB Edition is available for free download via Sampleson (16.5 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU plugin format for Windows & MacOS).

  1. Just a warning, the download is flagged as potentially harmful. Have enjoyed getting references from your website and never had this issue before.

    • Developer here!!! Hi Jordan, is there a way you to give us some screenshot or details? just here or hi [at] sampleson.com We didn’t get any warning on our testing PCs. We will try to reproduce your case at our end!
      Best.

      • Hi Augusto.

There’s a lot of excessive negative space at the top of both the original and BPB versions of Electrix. That space would be ideal for a nifty little patch browser (with save and load functions). It may seem necessary with the limited controls of Electrix, being a one-trick pony and all…but with a patch browser, I’d definitely be willing to donate. I love plugs with a patch browser and that space would be perfect for one.

What say you? Think about it!
Either way, thanks for this awesome sounding electric piano plug! :)

        • Bren!!! thanks for your insights! Black space is reserved exactly for that! Patch browser and Options like velocity curve and more! Also we are thinking into add a blurred studio or stage background instead of black! Best! Augusto

  2. I just downloaded this again, I had already used this before in a track but had to place the Voxengo Boogex after it to bring it to life more because I felt like the tone was great but the amplitude of the instrument was lacking. This tremolo addition adds a huge amount to helping this come alive in a mix. It sounds really good when using it to play chords. The BPB logo does something to make a plugin for more authentic to me as well lol.

  3. Wow didn’t know it wasn’t sample based. It sounds like hardware!

I made a cool loft Hip Hop beat with the last version you posted. Will upgrade.

  4. Thank you for making such a nice VSTi and giving it away “for free”. Sadly there is still only one MIDI-In showing up in the standalone version like in the first version. So I still can’t play this with my USB-keyboard :-/
