IK Multimedia has announced that the Syntronik Bully (€49.99 excl. VAT) expansion pack for the Syntronik virtual instrument is available as a free download until May 23rd, 2019.

Syntronik Bully captures the iconic bass sounds of the Moog Taurus pedal-style synthesizer, including the Taurus I, II, and III variants. The library features over 1 GB of audio content with over 1,000 individual samples and 100 instrument patches. Powered by IK Multimedia’s freely downloadable Syntronik virtual instrument platform (full review linked below), Bully also provides an intuitive control panel with on-screen controls for the filter, envelopes, modulation, and more.

Whereas the sampled content provides authentic Moog Taurus sounds, the user interface intentionally expands on the original’s sound shaping capabilities. For example, the filter section allows the user to set the filter cutoff and resonance amount, but also to adjust the filter drive, mode (low-pass, high-pass, or band-pass), and choose one of the multiple included filter types. These filter models, courtesy of the Syntronik platform, emulate classic synthesizer filter designs from manufacturers like Moog, Roland, Korg, and others. The developers have also included a set of controls for adjusting the glide time, vibrato, multiple legato modes, and even a polyphonic mode.

As a package, Syntronik Bully is a great way to incorporate analog-style bass tones into your music. It provides the authentic Moog Taurus sound with a variety of presets and plenty of on-screen control for customizing the plugin’s tonal character to your liking. The instrument is user-friendly and intuitive, making it a great choice for music producers who aren’t versed when it comes to tinkering with more advanced synthesizers and their potentially confusing panels. In other words, if you’re in need of a simple bass instrument with an analog-like sound, give this one a try.

Syntronik Bully is normally priced at €49.99 (excluding the VAT tax) on IK Multimedia’s website, but the company is giving it away as a completely free download until May 23rd. To download your free copy of the instrument, visit the promo page linked below and follow the instructions. The process consists of signing in to your IK Multimedia user account, subscribing to IK Multimedia’s email newsletter, installing Syntronik, and clicking the “Restore my Sounds” link in the Custom Shop. This will unlock Syntronik Bully in your Syntronik installation.

Syntronik Bully is available for free download via IK Multimedia (1.1 GB download size, ZIP archive containing EXE installer, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU/AAX plugin formats for Windows & Mac OS).

  1. I do not like emulators of old synthesizers based on samples, but there is no fish for fishlessness and cancer. Few people emulate Taurus, because everyone is mainly focused on MiniMoog and other, most popular, instruments, but everyone somehow forgets something about Taurus. Well, there is a sound font version 2 in AudioEvolution for Android – and that’s it, I don’t know any more Moog Taurus emulation. In addition, the price is pleasing: 50 Euro is quite affordable for me, CJ from Russia. I BUY IT!
