Imaginando Releases FREE DLYM 2.0 VST/AU Plugin

Imaginando has released DLYM 2.0, an updated version of its popular delay modulator effect in VST, AU, and AAX plugin formats for digital audio workstation software on PC and Mac. The software is also available as an AUv3 plugin for compatible iOS apps.

DLYM 2.0 is, for the most part, a cosmetic update of the original DLYM plugin, which was released back in 2018. The new version of the software is based on the same DSP engine as its predecessor, meaning that the sound hasn’t changed at all. It does, however, feature an entirely new GUI and a somewhat different control scheme.

The new interface uses darker colors and higher contrast, with more substantial control knobs and a more ergonomic control layout. Also, the control knobs now show numerical values for each parameter, a large tempo display, and a mono/stereo signal indicator. As before, the interface is freely resizable, and it can fit any screen size.

As for DLYM’s processing capabilities, the plugin is a rather versatile modulation toolbox that specializes in flanger and chorus effects. It offers two processing modes that Imaginando describes as “Analog emulation” and “Dimension style.” Each method delivers a different modulation flavor, with “Analog” being cleaner sounding and “Dimension” being more dramatic of the two. Although the developers haven’t mentioned this in the plugin description, it is quite possible that the “Dimension” processing mode was inspired by the Roland Dimension D studio chorus effect.

DLYM is a free ‘Delay Modulator’ plugin which produces flanger and chorus style effects using Imaginando’s powerful processing technology. Taking inspiration from DRC’s chorus effect, DLYM expands on the functionality, and makes it available for DAW applications on PC, Mac, and iOS for free!

The modulation engine features six different waveforms (Sine, Square, Saw, Triangle, Sample & Hold, and Filtered Sample & Hold), with optional host sync. The effect can be applied to a specific frequency range using the Crossover control. Also, the stereo width of the signal on the output is adjusted via the Spread control. To help new users get started with the plugin, Imaginando included a preset manager with 25 factory patches.

DLYM 2.0 is available for free download via Imaginando. The downloaded ZIP archive contains an EXE installer, which will extract the required plugin files on the user’s hard drive. The download can be accessed directly on the product page – no signup needed. The software is compatible with all VST, AU, and AAX plugin hosts on Windows and macOS (64-bit only).

  1. Can someone report that they got it working? I tried Ableton Live, Cakewalk, Reaper and none of these programs could find newly installed DLYM 2.0. I tried it both ways. Installation over the existing version 1.0 and fresh install after I removed version 1.0. It simply doesn’t show up. I’m on Windows 8.1 x64.
By the way there was a strange error message (pop-up window) when I started Reaper after I installed DLYM 2.0. It mentioned something about missing d3d12.dll. No idea what it is.
I guess developer could’ve added “2” at the end of the plugin .dll or something similar. Perhaps that’s the reason it’s not being recognized as new plugin.

  2. It’s been two weeks. Developer did not bother to get back to me regarding the issue. This board is also very quiet.

    • I’m having this same issue on FL20… The .exe installs fine, but when I use the plugin manager to add it to FL’s database, I get the same missing .dll error, and FL won’t recognize it.
Good to know I’m not the only one, because there’s nothing about this online I can track down.
