AIR Music Technology has released Ignite, a completely free music creation application which is designed for easy integration with M-Audio keyboards.
It’s not another DAW with complicated controls or engineering-centric workflow. In fact, it’s not a DAW at all. At the heart of Ignite is its non-linear Arranger, which replaces the traditional timeline and tracks-and lanes format.
Ignite is available for free download via AIR Music Technology’s website (826MB download size, 32-bit & 64-bit standalone application for Windows & Mac).
The program is designed for instant integration with current M-Audio MIDI keyboards (including the Venom synthesizer), but it can be used with any other MIDI controller. I’ve tested it on my laptop with a virtual MIDI keyboard, and it worked without any issues.
Although it can hardly be used to create complete tracks, I think that Ignite is a great tool for experimenting with music ideas before taking them to your main DAW.
It’s very easy to create and edit loops with it and it also comes with a cool arpeggiator and chord generators. Just the sort of app I’d like to have on my app when I’m travelling and feel like having a little jam.
Ignite includes 275 instruments from AIR Music Technology’s high quality instrument libraries, as well as a set of built-in effects. The projects can be exported as WAV files and MIDI data.

onWow! I’ve read about it several months ago, but didn’t know that it would be free and open to all controllers. I’m particularly curious about the AIR instruments, which where until now only available as RTAS plugins.

onI have an Axion 23 Mk2. Ignite a great on my Win 8.1 workstation but I have an older Vista laptop I still use. Is there something similar to Ignite anyone out there would recommend I use with the Axiom 25 on Vista?

onI purchased an M-Audio keyboard and Ignite Software came with it. Now I cannot find my disk, let alone the product key. I have music that I cannot work because of this. I’m not going to get on a roll:( I just need my Ignite back, without un-necessary hinderance. If you know what I mean. It was my keyboard purchased by me. The software came with the purchase… What? I need another Ignite application like the other Ignite application so I can finish MY songs. Heeeeellllp.

onPlease do not force me to use this application online. I did programing for years… So, please just let me know how I can correct all of this without selling my soul, so to speak:)
