Boz Digital Labs has announced the release of Tilty Wilty, a freeware tilt equalizer effect in VST/AU plugin formats for Windows and Mac. The plugin will be available as a free download until June 9th, after which it will be replaced with an improved commercial version.
Tilty Wilty is a tilt EQ, which is a great tool for quickly adjusting the brightness/darkness of your tracks. Tilty Wilty uses a special filter that does not have any of the wonky side effects to your high end that most digital filters have.
Even though the silly name and the ridiculous looking GUI may give you the impression that this plugin is a late April Fools joke, Tilty Wilty is actually a great little tool. For what it’s worth, I also like the interface design. As a matter of fact, I actually wish all plugins would look like this! Those sketchy freaking knobs are the coolest thing ever.
So, when would you want to use a tilt equalizer? A tool such as this one is useful when you want to change the character of a sound in an instant. The vocal has way too much low end? Tilt it to the right and the bass range will go down in volume, while the top frequencies get louder at the same time. Obviously, this isn’t something you’d want to use on an entire mix. But, it never hurts to expand your EQ arsenal a bit and this is one of those equalizers which allow you to work way faster than usual.
This is a time limited offer, so act fast.
