Cableguys Update Their Products Including Free PanCake Effect

1

Cableguys have updated their entire product range (including the freeware PanCake auto-pan effect), introducing improved multi-selection of waveform points and fixing several bugs and compatibility issues.

PanCake is quite possibly the most flexible auto-panning tool on the freeware market, sporting the Cableguys signature waveform drawing capabilities, a powerful LFO module and a helpful visual display of the input signal. The waveform editor allows for some fairly complex stereo modulation to be applied to the audio signal on the input, either in sync with the host application’s tempo, or by using the free-running LFO mode with the speed ranging between 0.02 Hz and 5.24 kHz.

Even though you can go super crazy with PanCake, it can also be used as your bread and butter auto-pan effect, thanks to the built-in selection of standard waveforms such as the sine wave and the triangle waveform. The waveform editor is displayed on top of the input volume monitor, making it much easier to visually comprehend the correlation between the LFO module and the volume of the audio signal in both stereo channels.

The latest version of PanCake brings improved functionality for multi-selection of waveform points in the waveform editor, making it easier to make quick changes to your custom LFO shape (it is still possible to save up to ten different custom waveforms in PanCake). Other improvements include several bug fixes and improved compatibility with Cubase 8 and OS X Yosemite. These same improvements were applied to all of the other plugins in the Cableguys product range, all of which can be downloaded as fully functional demo versions with no time limit.

If you’re interested in learning more about other Cableguys plugins, you should definitely take a look at our in-depth review of the recently released VolumeShaper 4 amplitude modulation effect. It is a fantastic tool for creating side-chain compression style effects and sorts of other amplitude modulation goodness. The free demo versions of Cableguys software don’t have any kind of time-out limitation, however you won’t have the option of saving your own presets and using more than one instance of each plugin per project.

  1. I download this effect every time it pop up here at BRP. But eventually I end up going back to Meldas free MTremolo and MAutopan. It might be the topdown view or just that it’s possibilities are a little too much for my needs.
