Free Samples & Loops Round-Up (August/September 2016)

Our regular readers have probably noticed that we took a bit of a break back in August. Drinking ice cold beer all day long on beautiful Greek beaches and writing about music production tools don’t go well together at all.

Still, better late then never! We’ll totally make up for missing our August samples and loops roundup by posting an EPIC collection of soundware freebies and deals for August and September combined. It’s the biggest one so far, enjoy!

• Loopmasters are giving away the HY2ROGEN Label Sampler on their Free Samples page (priced at $1 to cover the download costs) and are also offering a 50% OFF deal on various sample pack on the Sales page on their website.

• The Control Centre and Nekro Dean have released Gretsch Drums, a free sample pack containing almost 50 drum loops recorded by Nekro Dean during a recording session with a “mystery drummer”.
• Goldbaby has added two brand new sample packs (12Volt Punch Free and Unrealistic Vibrating Particles Free) to the Freebies page on his website. His drum samples are among the best on the market, so you definitely don’t want to miss checking these out.
• Speaking of great drum samples, Wave Alchemy is giving away 20 Character Snares on their Facebook page (no registration required). You can also download a collection of free samples from their new Techno sound library (registration required).
• Also worth checking out is the free Auraphonics Essential Drums I sample pack by Auraphonics.
• Our friend AfroDJMac has transformed gravitational waves into free drum samples. Sounds crazy? It is! Oh, and he has also released a bunch of Super Mario inspired effects for Ableton Live.
• Expanding Sound is offering a free set of Korg DS-8 sounds for Ableton Live. Korg DS-8 was Korg’s response to Yamaha’s well known DX7 FM synthesizer.
• MGF Audio has released a free Volca FM sample collection featuring 10 patches from Korg’s miniature FM synthesizer.

• Michael Picher has released a wonderful Binaural Upright Piano multi-sample collection in SFZ format.
• Slevin has released 115 free drum loops and samples captured from the PO-16 Factory synthesizer (via Rekkerd).
• If you’re looking for female vocal samples, check out Ghosthack’s new Free Vocal Kit collection.
• And if that wasn’t enough vocals for you, Function Loops are offering the free VOX Reloaded sample library featuring over 200 vocal loops and samples.
• You can now download all Audio Animals freebies in a single pack from their website (valid email address required).
• Synthmagic has introduced a set of free Korg Rhythm 55 samples on KVR Audio.
• Piotr Nowotnik is giving away Tsaaj LT, a free NI Kontakt instrument featuring the sounds of the Tsaaj Nplaim (a rare Asian reed instrument).
• You can grab a set of exclusive free drum breaks by BHK Samples by sharing their Free Samples page (Facebook required).
• Manwomanchild have sampled the littleBits Korg Synth Kit oscillator waveforms and are giving them away completely free of charge on their site (available for NI Kontakt, SFZ and Ableton Live).
• Get a nice set of drum loops and one shots by downloading Tiago Duarte’s free Daily Beats Vol. 1 sound collection.
• The Alpine Project has introduced the free Alpine Violin Ensemble for Native Instruments Kontakt.
• Permanent Beatz are offering a huge 1.4 GB sound library called Ultimate Producer’s Toolkit as a free download on their SoundCloud page.
• There were times when nicely sampled free bass multi-sample packs were quite a rare find and used to attract a lot of attention. That’s not the case nowadays, though. For example, this lovely free bass sample pack by KVR Audio member j_e_g has received only a single comment.
• Flintpope has released Chroma and Chasms, two free sound libraries for Native Instruments Kontakt (valid email address required).
• HeadlessBuddha Samples are giving away a small set of drum sounds from their premium Headless Bap Drums sample collection.

Sound Banks & FX Racks

• Dmitry Sches’ new Factory Expansion 3 for the Tantra sequence-based multi-effects plugin is available as a free download until October 4th!
• Blortblort has released Stalactites, a free collection of 100 custom patches for the excellent U-He MFM2 virtual delay effect.
• Homegrown Sounds has introduced the free Nostalgia sound set for the Sunrizer synthesizer by Beep Street.
• Sample Magic is giving away Massive Free Pack, a free collection of 91 premium quality patches for NI Massive.
• Ueberschall has introduced the Elastik 2016 Free Demo Soundbank for their Elastik virtual instrument.
• PerforModule has released the Free VST Racks collection for Ableton Live on their website. This is an interesting set of Ableton Live racks that relies completely on freeware VST effects.

Impulse Responses

• Wilkinson Audio is giving away their Simpulse Jimmy impulse response collection completely free of charge (normally priced at $5)!
• Joshua Casper is offering the epic Synthetic Prototypes collection of reverb impulse responses (over 200 in total!) on his website. Sharing on social media is required in order to unlock the download link.
