IK Multimedia 3D Cab Room Is Now FREE (AmpliTube Custom Shop)

IK Multimedia has recently announced that the 3D Cab Room mic positioning feature of AmpliTube 4 is now fully unlocked in the free AmpliTube Custom Shop software.

Previously exclusive to the AmpliTube 4 (€149.99) guitar suite, the 3D Cab Room microphone positioning functionality can now be freely accessed by anyone. IK Multimedia decided to integrate the feature as a core component of the AmpliTube Custom Shop software which is available for free download from their website.

AmpliTube Custom Shop is “freemium” software which comes with a set of unlocked features and plenty of expansions that can be purchased/unlocked via credits. The credits are valued from $1 down to $o.5 (for a single credit) depending on how much you spend at once. The base version of AmpliTube Custom Shop comes with 24 gear models including four amps, five cabinets, three microphones, two rack effects, a guitar tuner, and more. Occasionally, certain extensions are free for a limited time only but in this case, 3D Cab Room became a permanent feature of AmpliTube Custom Shop.

With access to 3D Cab Room, users of the free AmpliTube Custom Shop can shape their guitar tone by freely positioning the two microphones in the virtual cabinet room. The microphones can be positioned anywhere in the simulated 3D space, allowing the user to customize the tone of the selected cabinet and microphone combo. Of course, you can choose to stick with the five cabinets and three microphone models which are included for free or purchase additional models to expand your virtual gear arsenal.

To download your free copy of AmpliTube Custom Shop, simply visit the product page linked below and click the “Free Demo” button. User account registration is required (also free). The new 3D Cab Room functionality is already included in the software, no additional installation is required.

AmpliTube Custom Shop is available for free download via IK Multimedia (347 MB download size, ZIP archive containing EXE installer, 32-bit & 64-bit VST/AU/AAX plugin format for Windows & MacOS).

  1. Once again I need to play the grumble cat: Although ik makes some nice stuff, their installing / verification / activation proccess is grotesque and for me only worked randomly. I already left a pretty nice plugin by ik unused, that came with an issue of CM Magazine – solely because of that.. Hopefully they read here.

    • That’s exactly the reason I avoid IK, activation and installation are overcomplicated. If they read here then they should know that this process deters people who want to buy, not those who pirate software. Same reason why I still haven’t bought any Acustica Audio stuff.

How good are these virtual pedals/amps/cabs in your opinion? The activation process is annoying and I don’t wanna go through that if the sound isn’t worth it.

I think they’re great. I think the bass amp models sound better than my real amps. All the guitar stuff sounds very good. I bought an Eleven rack recently thinking I’d free up the CPU for other stuff, but it sits mostly unused. The IK models sound every bit as good, and the IK interface is way more intuitive than the Eleven. Nobody has ever been disappointed with the IK stuff.

    • Many of the amp models are great. The speaker impulses are not. I turn off the cabs and use Pulse with free speaker impulses. The free stuff is not as good as the paid stuff, but still very good. This 3-d room might be more flexible though, if I could even find it…

We do not use just speaker impulses. Our cabinet section is a hybrid approach using our modeling technology combined with impulses. If you are disappointed and have better results with free impulses, I’d suggest hitting up our support team at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support and/or users on the IK forum at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/forum to see if there’s something that can be done to get the expected results. AmpliTube is coded to be a full end-to-end chain of gear and the interaction between the different parts of the chain are a key part of the realism and is something unique to our developers’ innovative modeling technology.
