Having a solid drum soundbank is one of the best steps you can take towards having a good toolkit to start sketching out your ideas.

There are tons of free drum kits out there, but a lot of them fall into the trap of being recordings of classic drum machines or being limited to genres like “techno”.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course. That’s what I personally use on most occasions. But sometimes, you want to branch out and swap something out for a sound that’s a bit more unique and ambitious.

What you might need is something that’s weird enough to be different-sounding, but not so different that it’s alienating or impractical.

I bring tidings of great joy – that’s exactly the thought process German producer Ghosthack must’ve had while creating his “Unique Drum Collection”. And he’s currently offering it for a reasonable price of nil.

The pack has a ton of stuff – a sound library of fresh and different drums, percussion, and foley, all recorded in very high quality and collected into handy folders like “808” and “snare”, which give an indication of what role these would fit best, despite being significantly different. There are 300 sounds in total, including both one-shots and loops.

The collection is available for free for a limited time only, after which it’s going to climb back to its original price of 39€.
