This page hosts the updated version of BPB’s old Casio SA-10 toy keyboard sample pack. Originally released as a SoundFont back in 2009, the pack now also contains the individual samples in 16-bit WAV format, as well as the instrument patches in SFZ format.
My initial plan for this sampling project was to only record the drum samples, but I later decided to also create a free SoundFont which would feature my favorite Casio SA-10 instruments. As a bonus, I recorded all the Casio SA-10 drum loops, the demo song, and the so-called “Super Accompaniment” loops. So what you’re getting here is an experience similar to owning a real Casio SA-10.
While the samples were recorded with great attention to detail, don’t expect any audiophile-quality sounds here. These samples are cheap, dirty, and noisy, just as the Casio SA-10 is. You may use them just for fun and jamming if you want, but these sounds can also add an authentic lo-fi vibe to your projects. For example, instead of adding bitcrushing and distortion effects to some higher quality piano samples, why not use some piano samples that are lo-fi to begin with? That said, I highly recommend the electric piano patch featured in this download, as it’s one of the most lovely sounding lo-fi pianos I’ve ever heard.
As for the recording process, no effects have been added to the samples, to keep the sounds as authentic as possible. Even the instrument names in the SoundFont were written with Caps Lock on since they’re written like that on the Casio SA-10. Note that the original keyboard has the range of keys from F1 to C4. I used the same layout in the included SoundFont and SFZ patches.
UPDATE: The sample pack has been updated with the new version of the SoundFont that has twelve instruments instead of nine, and also some loop points fixed. If you already have the 9 instrument version on your computer, you might want to download the sample pack again. Loop points were fixed in the SYNTH-LEAD instrument. The new instruments that have been added are POP LEAD, SYNTH-ACCORDION and FLUTE.

onHi,
This sample kit is awesome, I had the casio in my childhood !
That’s so much fun to recover it although I was a bit desapointed about the lack of the whole soundset in the soundfont pack … I loved one sound in particular, the “cosmic sound” which is missing :)
thank you so much bedroom producers.
cheers
Curtis

onthanks for the kind words! yes, having a full featured soundfont would rock, but it would take quite a while to make… it took me a week or so to get the current version of the soundfont running properly, without nasty cracks and such, and plus i’m sharing these samples for free. anyway, i’m working on some new samples, so while i’m at it i will probably update the casio sa-10 pack with some new sounds and possibly other formats. if i do that, you can count on the cosmic sound being incuded. ;]

onThat drumpack is fine as well. But your Casio fonts are great at all!
Great great great!
I found it too long. There’s no organ sound in pack so it’s little sad.
Anyway you’re just magic, thanks so much!
Good luck and happy new year!

onHey! Thanks for the great samples! Unfortunately I can’t manage to get the SoundFont working on Garageband :(, followed many tutorials and tried using this thing called bs-0 but I can’t seem to get any sound out of it.
Any ideas? :D
bedroomproducers
onhey, i’m not a mac guy unfortunately so i can’t be of much help here. :[
from what i’ve heard, all macs have some sort of a native plugin that can be loaded into hosts that support AU, but i’m not sure if Garageband is one of those. perhaps you should try converting the soundfont to some other format using Translator Free by the Chicken Systems Inc.

onThanks for sounds. The casio’s wwere classics in the day. For any one using Logic I just uploaded a simple EXS file that maps out the kits to the keys. You still need to download the wav files here on the bedroomproducersblog.com website.

onHi!
I looked for the Church organ sample (demo – http://drwind.net/share/organ_casio_SA-21.mp3) but I have not found anywhere.
The most of sample packages don’t contain the sample.
Please advise where can I find it.
bedroomproducers
onnot sure if you can find them anywhere, but i can make some for you if you need them.
drwind
onIt would be fine! I really need this sample because I’d like to remix my old song.
I searched Casio keyboards and played them in music shop, however new Casio model has another Church organ sound.
bedroomproducers
onok, here are the sa-10 pipe organ samples. it’s a 5Mb wav file, i hope you don’t mind splitting the individual notes yourself:

onThanks, that’s nice to hear! :)
Miguel Pacheco
onHey, nice library! But where can I download the whole soundfont (if exists) Since I’ve noticed that there are some missing sounds, according to the demo. Thanks a lot and great work!
Tomislav Zlatic
onThe demo recording is the actual demo track from the Casio SA-10. I only sampled some of my favorite sounds from the keyboard, so not all demo sounds are covered.
Dekyo Ongen
onHi,
I made a Casio CTK-230 SoundFont, if someone is interested. It’s accurate and I recreated the loop points in the samples, like the original keyboard.
Daniel Eusebio
onGreat job Tomislav Zlatic. Thank you. My Casio SA-10 still working with over than 30 years…
Justin
onDear Tomislav,
thank you so much for this effort and sharing it with us. I have a very similar model that I always wanted to sample and finding yours was a blessing.
All the best,
Justin
Tomislav Zlatic
onHey Justin, glad to help! I hope I’ll find time to release more freebie packs like this one in near future.
Justin
onBy the way, does anybody knows if the loops coming with these Casio keyboards are free to use in a musical work without copyright trouble ? I made a couple of pieces years ago using only my Casio going through a few effects and would love to release them.
Justin
Justin
onHi Tomislav,
thanks again for that great freebie. Could it be that you forgot a drum loop called Bagpipe?
Justin
onAnd Fanfare. Sorry, but since you said you sampled the whole loops, I had to ask ;-) I just love them.
Tomislav Zlatic
onAh, I’m afraid I don’t have any additional Casio SA-10 recordings apart from those featured in the freebie pack, and I sold the keyboard ages ago. :(
Anoj Kerketta
onHelllo plz give me Casio SA 41 sampal Pack
Jim Somniac
